Something That I Enjoyed Doing Alone
One thing I enjoy doing most is to play my Nintendo DSI. It is a normal double screen game machine with many improved upgrades including a camera. My passion for playing my DS all started two years ago when I did well in my studies and therefore, my father rewarded me by giving me one of these. After about a year and a half, my brother accidentally sat on my game and made the screen spoil. I was devastated but relieved to know it could still be used just that the screen was lose. I had stuck with this for about a year now but everything changed about three months ago when my father bought me the newest version of the machine, the Nintendo Double Screen I or DSI for short.
My brother watched in awe as I received the present with glee, from my father. I was over the moon, resembling a dog with two tails. He jealously watched as I excitedly turned the machine on. Noticing his expressions, my father smiled and walked away. However, there was a negative point. I became hooked up onto the game, and could not stop playing, till the battery ran out and I had to charge it again.
As we all know, time flies when you do not notice it. It was as if the minutes and hours had turned into seconds and in the blink of an eye, the December holidays were over. My mother then told me that I would be allowed to play on the first and second day of the New Year. I was elated. A week before the holidays, my father came back from yet another overseas trip and he had bought my brother another DSI. We were both ecstatic, almost immediately, my little brother turned the machine on and started playing. My mother noticed our addiction to the game and said she would lock these up when school reopens.
Anyway, yesterday I was given the privilege to play my DSI , along with m brother. I was as pleased as punch as I knew this was a once in a blue moon opportunity and did not waste anytime. I sat quietly at the sofa, playing my games. I really enjoy playing these games as they have a storyline and in order to find out more about it, you would have to play it. I played throughout the day, taking it as a rest day as I had finished all my work and got a Distinction for my Music Theory Exam. This therefore, I treated it as a reward and other than doing my daily activities including taking twenty minute breaks from now and then, I did not stop.
AS the day came to an end, I reluctantly gave my DSI back to my mother but I knew that this was for my studies and that I would get addicted if I was allowed to play everyday. I really look forward to the Chinese New Year which is just round the corner as I can play again then. I really am grateful to my father for such a wonderful gift.
Something That Happened In School Today
Last Saturday, was very tiring but truly excellent. It was then that we had our long awaited Class Barbecue! The start of the day was not very good as I had combined Chinese Orchestra and my section did not perform too well. As a result, we were reprimanded and had to go for a extra practice session. However, just when things seemed bleak, it all changed. After practice, I went with Edmund to Subway in Parkway Parade as we could not wait for the others to meet up and go as a group.
I ordered the value meal and a few mouths into my meal; Gun Hwi and Aaron arrived at Subway too. We all then ate and talked at the same time and were having a great time. Just then, Wei Jie came. We waited for him to eat and then took a bus back to school. It was about four in the afternoon when we reached and we were on time as our form teacher, Mr Su told us to meet at four so we could play out games for two hours then barbecue. Upon reaching, we waited for a while and when the rest of our classmates showed up, we started to play floor ball. Then began the fun and excitement.
We split into two teams as only a number of us wanted to play while the others relaxed and did their own stuff. I was a defender and blocked many balls, not to mention one by Mr Su. Indeed you cannot judge a book by its cover. He may be a Mathematics teacher but he is excellent in sports. The ball I blocked deflected and hit me in the knee, leaving a red bruise. In the end, we won the opposition team but that did not stop there. My friends and I played many more games and we won all but one when a few of us just joint in the game to help the team that was losing by quite a number of points.
Just then, Mr Su came and told us it was time to eat and we all stopped our game, which we would continue later, after we ate. It was then we smelled the strong aroma of food waffling through the air. At that moment, we had a major problem. We were all out of drinks. Luckily, Mun Yong and his father brought a few more large bottles and we were saved. They even drove out to buy some more when we ran out again. After enjoying the delicious food, some guys in class organized a night walk. Many of us wanted to go but we were disappointed. What seemed to be a scary night walk turned out to be nothing as something happened and when we went, there were no scares at all. However, it was still very fun and we made it back just in time for Mr Su to give us a talk.
After the talk, we cleaned the whole place and ate the remaining food. Finally, we all then walked out of school, either to wait for our parents or to go home ourselves. In the end, I thought to myself, “What turned out to be a bleak and boring day turned out to be one of the most fun days by far this year.
A Problem I Encountered And Managed to Solve
Today I could say was one of the most hilarious yet waste of my time day so far this year. I went to Bugis to watch a movie with my friends. The film was called “Tooth Fairy”. I was actually reluctant to go but after those pleas from my friends, I finally went with them. I knew at the start it would be time wasting but I still followed them. Half an hour later, we were outside our destination, buzzing with excitement that is except for me.
Twenty minutes into the show, all of a sudden, there was no more sound. In a matter of minutes, the cinema staff appeared and mad an announcement. “Ladies and Gentlemen, we are having some technical problems. Please proceed to the counter outside. Sorry for the inconvenience caused.” Everyone groaned in disappointment and I sighed, knowing that I really should not have come. We slowly walked out, disappointed by the interruption of the show. Upon reaching the counter, they refunded us our money and apologized profusely, stating that they regret the inconvenience caused. As there was not going to be a show, I called my mother and told her all about it, asking her to fetch me at the same time. She told me she was busy and asked if I could take a bus home.
I did not argue. I was so bored that I just found myself walking towards the bus stop. I was thinking about my friend and all the good memories we had together. I was so deep in my thoughts that I boarded the wrong bus. I just went up and tapped my card on the scanner, still engrossed within my thoughts, filled with both happy and sad times. It was only when I reached the end of the bus route did I realize that I had taken the wrong bus. I panicked. I was in some rundown place called
Finally, I gave up. I would just rot here, I thought. Then, I reprimanded myself for being so hopeless. I got up, walked towards a taxi, and asked him if he would send me home. He was shocked to hear that I lived in the east but still, he decided to help me. During the whole journey, I decided to stop thinking and fantasizing of my friend. I was panicking still, from what I just experienced that the journey seemed to take hours as the seconds started to expand into minutes and hours.
Alas, I reached home, relieved but angry with myself. The taxi fare was about twenty dollars and it was all because of me and my thoughts. I reluctantly fished the money from my wallet and handed it to the driver. After returning me the change, I got off and went back home. Just as I open the front door and told myself, “Home sweet Home” , my mother was sitting anxiously at the chair, at the moment she saw me, her anxiety vanished and was replaced with a grin. I told her my whole ordeal with great embarrassment and my mother laughed at me. I , from then onwards, decided it was time to pass on and not to live on in past memories.
